An explosion hit a vegetable market in Parachinar, the capital of the Kurram district in Pakistan’s north western tribal area,that killed at least 20 people and injuring more than 40 reported officials. Parachinar is a tribal area that has been under militant activities in the past few years. Though Pakistan army held many operations against militants here but unfortunately they still have the competence to strike back.
Parachinar is composed of mostly Shi’ite community and this belt has also suffered sectarian apprehension among Sunni and Shi’ite Muslims. This terror attack also took place in generally Shia Muslim area where there have been earlier assaults targeting Shias. The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban(TTP) has claimed responsibility for the explosion in Parachinar.
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa paid a visit to Parachinar on Sunday where he met the injured people and expressed his grief over the loss. He clearly gave a message that terrorists will be unsuccessful in their effort to get back the lost significance and to disrupt the stability attained by the security forces with the help of tribesmen in the tribal areas.
Moreover, United States of America, Turkey, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain among other countries have also condemned and expressed their sympathies with the families who have been affected by the blast in Parachinar.
